Christian's Story
Christian James Koehler was born on February 5, 1999. Christian was a healthy 9 year old boy who lived in East Islip, NY. He was an avid lacrosse and football player. In May of 2008, he was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma brain tumor. He immediately started chemotherapy and was treated at Cornell to remove the brain tumor. Christian was an amazing boy who always had a smile on his face throughout his treatment. In March 2009 he became more symptomatic and deteriorated quickly. He passed away on May 29, 2009. He is survived by his loving parents, Janine & Chris and his siblings, Allison, Anthony and baby sister Victoria who was welcomed into the family on May 4, 2012.
In his memory, our family has created the Christian Koehler Foundation. The organization is a 501 (c) (3) and is a proud sponsor of Make-A-Wish Foundation and The Children's Brain Tumor Project. The organization also assists local families who have been affected by pediatric cancer.
The family & friends host an annual Christian Koehler Lacrosse Tournament in Suffolk County, Long Island. The tournament is comprised of Long Island town teams as well as teams from Westchester NY and Connecticut.
